Type S Performance
Under the hood, The MDX upgrades its powerplant to a Type S-exclusive 24-valve, DOHC, 3.0-liter V6 aspirated by a twin-scroll turbocharger to produce 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Power runs to the torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ system through a 10-speed automatic transmission re-engineered to accommodate the engine's extra torque.
The MDX Type S exhibits remarkable athleticism for its size, building on the MDX's model-exclusive platform with a performance-tuned chassis, double-wishbone front suspension, an Adaptive Damper System, and first-time air suspension. The Integrated Dynamics System has seven selectable drive modes, including the Type S-exclusive Sport+ mode and a new Lift mode to increase ground clearance by two inches on demand. The Type S 21-inch wheels are wrapped in performance rubber, and strong Brembo front brakes help reign in the MDX's upgraded power.
Type S Accommodations and Technology
The MDX Type S elevates the SUVs premium interior to be even more accommodating and driver-focused, with a flat-bottom steering wheel, sport pedals, and soft-touch Milano leather upholstery with premium Black Ultrasuede® inserts. The MDX Type S also comes standard with numerous amenities to enhance the experience. Heated and ventilated front seats and tri-zone automatic climate control keep the cabin comfortable, and the sliding and reclining second-row seats provide easy access to the third row. The second row further augments the MDX's considerable versatility with a multi-function middle seat that can be removed to create captain's chairs or folded for armrests and cupholders.
The 12.3-inch Acura Precision Cockpit™ digital instrument panel allows drivers to customize the display to safely view a range of useful information, including driver aid status, route navigation, infotainment details, and more. Additionally, the 12.3-inch HD Center Display seamlessly integrates smartphone apps and functions via wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, intuitively controlled via the innovative True Touchpad Interface.
